The Education Bureau held a seminar “Joining Hands in Embracing the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2025” on 5 December 2024 for secondary school principals and curriculum officers. Our Project Team leader Professor Frederick Leung, Co-Project Leader Professor Wai Ip Lam, Team Members Ms Annie Chan and Dr Alex Tse were invited as guest speakers. They shared the goals of PISA, introduced the key milestones of PISA 2025 and their insights on this international assessment. The Main Study of PISA is going to be conducted in Hong Kong from 19 May to 13 July 2025. Around 230 schools and 8,000 15-year-old students will be invited to take part.

PISA provides substantial and revealing data for schools to reflect more effectively on their strategies on teaching and learning. The other speakers in the seminar also shared their schools’ experiences on how they have utilised PISA questionnaire data to identify the root causes of challenges faced by students at school and at home, with an aim to enhance their academic and whole-person developments.

The Project Team called on secondary school principals, educators, parents and students to join hands and make PISA 2025 a success. Let’s find out more about the potentials of Hong Kong students from PISA 2025, identify their strengths and needs, and strive for education advancement to meet the demands of the 21st century.
